I overcame my depression, when I was in my 12th class (2008). The worst phase were the first three to four months. I gave my board exams through it. I will not say out the reasons for it explicitly, for they are very embarrassing but I can tell you this, that I started believing something, which I wasnt. (a bit confusing, I know) It was horrible and draining, dealing with it everyday.
Positive reinforcements worked. A lot. So did, meditation. That is when I got into the habit of it. You would say, that I should have consulted a psychologist but due to the very same reasons give prior I didnt want to.
Slowly, I got over it ( took me more than a year ), I saw I had grown through it and that was good.
Let me introduce an ideal sistem of exams. In my opinion, the students should pass exams with unlimited time, because some students are very nervous, and they can't focus on exercises. The students should pass two compulsory subjects (maths and Russian) and one subject optionally, because if the students pass too many subjects, they can't learn the information well, that's why they can't pass the exam on high mark. I think that students should have some practice in subject, that they pass. For example, if they want to pass history, they should learn to work with different historic documents and pass it on exam. If the students want to pass English, they should practice their speech with native speakers, and to pass it, so they should have some practice. This is the ideal sistem of exams in my opinion.
