I would call a supermarket the most convenient inventions of the XX cen-tury. We should be thankful to Micheal Callan, an American who worked as an administrator in a grocery store and then in 1930 opened his own first supermarket with a wide range of goods.
He opened his first supermarket in his garage but it wasn’t an obstacle for his business and only 2 years later he owned a network of this kind of supermarkets.
The idea of opening a store where you could buy a wide range of products not only foods was welcomed by the Americans. Since that time supermarkets started developing and became bigger as well as started selling more and more kinds of goods.
Nowadays there are supermarkets in every city of our country. Most of the time it’s a network of supermarkets that you can see everywhere like “Mag-net” and “Pyaterochka”.
I believe our life would be much harder if we didn’t have supermarkets. It would take us much more time to buy some basic things. That’s why I think it’s great to have everything in one place and don’t waste time in differ-ent queues.
