1) Jack, a truck driver, was driving 100 penguins to the New York Zoo. On the highway, his truck suddenly (broke) down.
2) Jack got out of the car. He (was looking) at the engine when another truck stopped by.
3) The second truck driver, Peter, asked if (his) colleague needed any help. Jack explained that he was taking the penguins to the zoo and asked if Peter could take the penguins to the zoo. Peter agreed.
Some hours later, Peter drove past Jack, who was still waiting on the highway for help to come.
4) The penguins, however, (were) still in the truck!
5) "I thought I asked you to take (those) penguins to the zoo," shouted Jack. Peter replied, "I did, but I had some money left, so we're going to the cinema now."
Now in my letter I want to tell you about my country. You know that Russia is the largest country in the world. It is washed by twelve seas and three oceans. It has a long and interesting history. I want to say that the history of my native country is great. . The capital of Russia is Moscow with the population of about 10 million people. The head of the state is a president. The country is famous for its numerous places of interest. Russia is famous for its achievements and outstanding personalities.The country is rich in numerous lakes, rivers and woods. It is also rich in natural and mineral resources.I am sure you know a lot of stereotypes about Russian people and their country. Most of Americans and Europeans think that every Russian family lives in cold Siberia, plays balalaika and has its own brown bear instead of a dog. Actually, Russia is a big political, scientific, cultural and industrial centre now and all these stereotypes are no more than fairytales. I am very proud of the fact I was born and live in Russia!
