I would like to tell you a story about a mermaid. It started like this. Last summer my parents, my friend and I went to the lake for a weekend. We found a nice place on the bank near the forest. It was getting dark and we decided to make a fire. When the moon came on, the moonshine fallen on the surface of the lake. Suddenly we heard a splash. We looked at the lake and saw a beautiful girl with long hear. She was swimming and diving in the water. We thought that it was somebody from the nearest camp, but whet the girl jumped out of the water, we noticed a long fish tale. Oh, it wasa mermaid! We couldn’t believe our eyes and rushed to the lake. I wanted to take pictures, but she dived and disappeared. Finally my parents and friends came back to the fire, but I was staying at the bank and waiting for the strange creature for sometime. But it didn’t appear.

The Royal Observatory, Greenwich(formerly the Royal Greenwich Observatory or RGO), in London played a major role in the history of astronomyand navigation, and is best known as the location of the prime meridian. It is situated on a hill in Greenwich Park, overlooking the River Thames.

The observatory was commissioned in 1675 by King Charles II, with thefoundation stone being laid on 10 August.[1] At that time the king also created the position of Astronomer Royal, to serve as the director of the observatory and to "apply himself with the most exact care and diligence to the rectifying of the tables of the motions of the heavens, and the places of the fixed stars, so as to find out the so much desired longitude of places for the perfecting of the art of navigation." He appointed John Flamsteed as the first AR. The building was completed in the summer of 1676.[2] The building was often given the title "Flamsteed House", in reference to its first occupant.

The scientific work of the observatory was relocated elsewhere in stages in the first half of the 20th century, and the Greenwich site is now maintained as a museum.
