St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and Northern
Ireland. In the 5th century he brought Christianity to Ireland.
St Patrick's Day, March 17, has always had a special meaning
for the Irish, wherever they live. In Ireland this is a national
holiday with parades held all over the country. People of Irish

Thousands of excited Muscovites gathered on Novy Arbat to
watch the parade of marching bands, Cossack horsemen and
floats representing many Russian and Irish companies. Since
then St Patrick's Day has been traditionally celebrated in
Moscow.
