The idea of the organization of the first World Fair belongs to the prince Albert, Queen Victoria's spouse and the president of Royal society of arts. In 1849 the prince Albert suggested to organize the International exhibition in which could accept participation many countries of the world. The list of founders was headed by Queen Victoria. The exhibition was open on May 1, 1851 in the Crystal palace of Joseph Paxton. On the first floor of the building and in its galleries more than 13 km of exhibition stands were placed. 14 thousand representatives of various countries took part in the first World Fair. The World Fair was open five and a half months, and it was visited by more than 6 million people. The crystal palace - pavilion, revolutionary for the middle of the 19th eyelid, from glass, metal and concrete constructed in the Hyde park of London. In 1852-1854 the Crystal palace was transferred to Sidenkhem - Hill and is reconstructed, but in 1936 burned down. For bigger transparency of the largest the then of the building was decided to refuse traditional windows. The palace was built from separate designs which easily gathered and understood. The crystal palace - a unique construction for the time - became a sample for designers of exhibition halls. During the long period the Crystal palace was used for holding mass cultural and sporting events: exhibitions, concerts, sports competitions.
