IN указывает на положение внутри больших или маленьких пространств. Пространства могут не иметь видимых границ:
in the room – в комнате
in the house – в доме
in the north of the country – на севере страны
in the garden – в саду
in the bag – в сумке
in an office – в офисе
Предлог ON – на, на поверхности
ON указывает на положение на поверхности чего-либо или если один объект прикреплен или прилегает к другому:
on a wall – на стене
on the ceiling – на потолке
on a table – на столе
on the floor – на полу
on a finger – на пальце
on my head – на моей голове
Предлог AT – у, возле, в, на
AT всегда обозначает приближенность к чему-то в пространстве, точку в пространстве. Как уже говорилось, предлог AT не имеет прямого аналога в русском, поэтому может переводиться совершенно по-разному. Тем не менее, во всех словосочетаниях AT обозначает одно и то же, просто на русском это звучит неестественно:
at the door – у двери (возле двери)
at the desk – за столом (у стола)
at the traffic lights – на светофоре (у светофора)
at the bus stop – на автобусной остановке (у автобусной остановки)
at the end of the street – в конце улицы (у конца улицы)
Some families have an only child, others decide to have two, three or even more children. Is it good to be an only child in the family?
There is no single opinion if it is great to have siblings or not. Some people think that being an only child has more advantages than disadvantages while others consider that having brothers or sisters brings lots of useful benefits.
I adhere to the point of view that being an only child is very advantageous. To start with, having a single child allows parents to allocate more money for bringing him or her up. This increases the chance that he or she will get the better education. Moreover, the only child is more likely to hit it off with parents, which is important for building a close-knit family. These children are always more mature because they talk a lot to mature people in childhood.
There are also people who disagree with that opinion and state that it is tenfold better for a child to have siblings. They always say that older brothers and sisters can give useful advices which parents sometimes cannot. What is more, if a child has younger siblings, he or she can learn to take care of them which also makes him or her more mature.
Though I cannot agree with that opinion because the more children live in one flat, the more loud it is. It is ubiquitous for the second or third children not to have their own room although the noise can be very disturbing.
All in all, being a single child has lots of benefits, though some people mention that having siblings provides irreplaceable experience. Parents then can dedicate more time and territory for a child, fix him or her up with money.
