Выберите номер правильного ответа в заданиях 1-8. Christopher Shoals and two of his friends, Carlos Glidden and Samuel Sole, developed the first modern typewriter. They worked on a newspaper in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the 1860. Shoals put each letter on the end of a metal bar. A key was hushed down and the end of the bar hit the paper. The typewriter keys were put in alphabetical order. but alphabetical order caused a problem. Fast typing made some of the letter bars get caught on one another. The bars were too close together. - Shoals solved the problem. He found out the most-used letters in English. Then he put these ietters far apart on the typewriter keyboard. The letter bars didn't his each other easily. The first six letters on the top of the keyboard are QWERTY.

I always try to help people. I can help a person morally but most of all I help people to do something. I can help the old lady cross the road or bring her bags to her house. I can give advice, teach a person something. And of course I help gratuitously. I think this is the right way. We have to help people and they will help us next time!

Pamela was happy to live in the city. She came from a small village and moved to the city only two years before. Here she  had a good job, a nice flat, and lots of new friends – she could not wish for a BETTER life than now.

“Hey, Pam!” he shouted to HER.

“Can you let me in? The front door IS LOCKED and I can’t get upstairs.”

Задание 24

“Yes, sure,” nodded Pamela. “I WILL BE downstairs in a minute.”

Though Tom’s voice sounded calm and casual, she FELT a sudden panic.

“What made him travel all the long way from the village?” she wondered.
