Australia is a huge island plus the island of Tasmania. It is an enormous country--nearly 8 million km2. The population is 20 million people. The capital is Canberra but the largest city is Sydney with a population of just over 4 million. The climate is different: the north is tropical and the south is temperate. The centre of Australia is very dry and is a desert. There are many beautiful places to visit, for example: the Great Barrier Reef, tropical forests of Queensland, Snowy Mountains and the central desert.
