I was walking along the narrow old streets in Marocco. Suddenly a few strangers appeared in front of me. They took me and put a black bag on my head and took me somewhere. I was very afraid and fainted. I found myself in a small dark room. Then they came and turned on the light. They had a lot of wax with them. I didn't know why but I couldn't move. They stood me up and covered me with wax from head to foot. I couldn't breathe and the whole life flashed before my eyes. And then I woke up and saw my room and my cat. It was only a bad dream.

В 1777 году Мария Тюссо создаёт свою первую восковую фигуру — Вольтера, за которым последовали Жан-Жак Руссо и Бенджамин Франклин.Одной из диковинок музея Марии был Кабинет ужасов,тут можно было увидеть жертв французской революции, убийц и знаменитых преступников. со временем коллекция пополнялась фигурами людей, прославившихся в других областях деятельности, таких как адмирал Нельсон, Вальтер Скотт.В 1925 году пожар уничтожил многие фигуры. Поскольку формы не пострадали, фигуры удалось реконструировать.
