Kirov Avenue is the main street of Pyatigorsk, created in the form of a wide and long-length alley, along which there are places for entertainment and recreation. The historical name of the avenue is Tsarskaya Street, which changed its name to Romanovsky Prospekt before the revolution in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov family. After that, its name was Svobody Avenue, Sovetsky Avenue, and in 1952 it was renamed Kirov Avenue. The avenue originates from the building of the Academic Gallery, and ends in the area of the railway station, where a monument to S.M. Kirov is installed. Most of the avenue along its entire length is in the shade of deciduous trees, providing coolness on hot summer days. Kirov Avenue is an ideal place for joint walks with the family, here a large number of cafeterias, restaurants and shops with various groups of goods are concentrated on one street. The main tramway of the city runs along the avenue. In 1903, the first tram passed along the tram tracks of Pyatigorsk, this became possible thanks to the launch of the White Coal hydroelectric power station, the first Russian state hydroelectric power station based on the Podkumok River.
