Transport played and plays a great role in people’s life. It helps move from one country to another for different needs.
In the past, people didn’t have cars, trains, and other transport, so they walked everywhere, carried goods and things on themselves. They were tired of heavy bags, but then they started using animals to carry objects. They used such animals as horses, donkeys, camels, and elephants. Then they invented wooden carts and used animals to carry them.
But there were not only land ways of travelling, but also water ones. Until the 19th century, the main way between Asia and the Western world was throughoceans and seas. People build and developed ports and harbours. They used amazing ships to travel to different countries, to move from one fascinatingcountry to another, and to exchange goods with other countries. But those ships hadn’t gotengines, they used the power of the wind. Now we can read a lot offrightening stories about pirates and monsters from that time.
Nowadays we continue using ships for the same purposes, but now they are safer and much more developed. Modern ships have engines and comfortable conditions. We use the old-fashioned ships as museums or sights.
Of course, we like our means of transportation as they are comfortable and save our time. But transport system in the past waseco-friendlier than in the present.
