The Laughter Medicine
There was a time when doctors would have thought it (1) INCOMPREHESIBLE to prescribe laughter as a medicine. However, studies have shown that seeing a funny film or reading a (2) HUMOURISTIC book may make a (3) CONSIDERABLE contribution to a person's health. Laughing helps us lower our body's stress levels and strengthens our body's ability to fight disease. More and more doctors believe that laughter is (4) VALUABLE when it comes to curing illnesses, even serious ones. Along with pills, they are beginning to prescribe entertainment to help their patients focus on pleasure rather than pain. As a natural painkiller, laughter is healthier and certainly more (5) AFFORDABLE than expensive medications. Even though using laughter as therapy is a recent (6) DISCOVERY in modern medicine, traditional cultures in Asia and South America have enjoyed its benefits for years. So, if (7) EXCESSIVE work or any other difficulty is causing you stress, you may find, to your (8) ASTONISHMENT that your mood and behaviour will change just by looking on the bright side of life. So, go on - have a laugh.
During the summer holidays, my mother and I went to visit my grandmother. We lived with my grandmother in the village for two weeks. We got to the village by bus.
I saw many different animals in the village. Grandma keeps a cow and pigs. And I saw furry rabbits in the neighborhood. I watched my mother rabbit lick the fur of tiny rabbits.
I made friends with my grandmother's rooster, Petka. Even with the cat Vasily and the yard dog Crook. I also saw a hive of bees for the first time in my life.
I want to visit my grandmother again. I liked living in the country.
