There is a proverb that it is better to see once than to hear a hundred times. That is why people need museums.

My favorite museum is State Darwin Museum. It shows natural diversity of our planet. Staffed animals are very realistic. One can familiarize with creatures of every continent, seas and oceans. There are both familiar animals like elephants, foxes or wolfs and beasts which lived on Earth long time ago.

The museum is well-equipped. It has a lot of interactive elements. For example one can hear singing of different birds pressing the buttons.

The most interesting for me is an exposition on human evolution. It shows how our ancient ancestors looked like and what tools they used.

I liked a tour very much. Our guide told us a lot of interesting facts about extinction and emergence of species.

I think everyone should visit State Darwin Museum at least once. It is the best place to learn about evolution. But I wouldn’t recommend to visit this museum on weekend, because there are so much people there, that you might not be able to come close to every exhibit.

From ancient times people were afraid of natural disasters. these unpredictable disasters killed thousands of people and destroy dozens of cities. it was called "the punishment of the gods". all of these is about the earthquakes. today we can explain what the earthquake is, why it occurs and even define the earthquake-prone areas. so, why do earthquakes happen? scientists say that the reason is the movement of tectonic plates of the earth, taking place because of the volcanic eruptions or underground explosions.  over the past decade we have seen a number of seismic disasters in japan, china, chile, thailand, mexico and in other countries all over the world. in other words, the strongest earthquakes with the disastrous consequences cannot be controlled by a man, but they can be highly predicted. nowadays there are many ways to reduce the damage to a minimum. we use special materials while constructing buildings or applying special architectural solutions as well as long-term or short-term forecasting of probable earthquakes. to conclude, today the earthquakes are much less threatening than fifty years ago. they are no longer considered as the punishment of the heaven, just like a natural phenomenon like rain or fog.

Russian national suit is being used from ancient times and until present. it has notable features depending on region. can be festive or casual. distinctive feature of russian national suit - huge amount of clothes. clothes can be union and swing. suits of majors were made of expensive fabrics, with applications of gold, silver, pearls, costly buttons. such suits were passed by inheritance. style of the outfit haven't been changed by centuries. definition of fashion didn't exist. russian national suit became less popular when peter i in 1699 has forbidden wearing of russian national suit for everybody, except rednecks, monks, priests and lectors. base for a man's suit was a shirt or undershirt. over the shirt men put on zypun made of home cloth. base for the woman's suit was long shirt. shirts used to be decorated with fringes or embroidery, sometimes with pearls. married women should have necessarily  cover their hair, thus they wore volosniks and povoyniks and binded their hair with shawls, and when leaving the house they put on ornated kiks or kokoshniks.
