So I am writing to you about some of them.There are many different holidays in our country. First of all, it’s New Year, a favourite holiday for many Belarusian people. We always celebrate it at home on the first of January. We usually have a New Year tree and decorate it with nice balls and tinsel. We send and get a lot of greeting cards for the New Year. We also have a New Year party at home and invite our relatives and friends to come to our place. We eat tasty things (different salads, roast chicken, potatoes, tangerines (мандарины), sweets and cakes), sing songs, dance, play funny games, give and get presents. We watch TV and at 12 o’clock we say, “Happy New Year!” to each other.We also celebrate the Women’s Day on the 8th of March. I love this holiday. My mum is always happy on this day. My dad, brother and I help our mum and granny about the house and give them presents – beautiful flowers and chocolates and hand-made greeting cards.We have nice holidays in May. The 9th of May is the Victory Day. We visit war veterans and give them flowers. We usually watch a parade on this day. Late in the evening there are fireworks in the park.There is a special day for me on the 2nd of August. It is my birthday. I always get present for my birthday. My mum makes a big birthday cake with candles on it. I usually invite friends to my birthday party. We have a good time. It’s my favourite holiday. I’m so happy on this day.
