George Gershwin (1899-1937) was born September 26, 1898 Real name of the composer - Yankel Gershovits. Since childhood absorbs the culture of jazz, he was a lover of jazz concerts and began to teach yourself to play the piano at age 12. Much later, becoming a renowned composer, Gershwin did not cease to learn, improve their technique. In 1914, Gershwin began a professional musician, working as an accompanist in the company of Jerome Remick. Two years later it was released first authorship of the young Gershwin - «When You Want 'Em You Can not Get' Em». Despite the fact that it has not enjoyed much success the public, Gershwin drew the attention of some of the famous Broadway producer and director. In those years, Gershwin, practicing piano, harmony and orchestration, moonlighting as a pianist in restaurants. Sigmund Romberg gladly included Gershwin's music in his operetta «The Passing Show of 1916". From 1918 to 1919 in Broadway there are many works of Gershwin: "Swanee" was included in the musical "Sinbad" and was a resounding success by Al Jolson. A statement of «La, La Lucille» 1919 was entirely based on the works of Gershwin.
