Ukraine is my homeland. And I love her, good or bad, poor or rich. It may not be going smoothly, but it is one of my countries, and there is no other country like it.
And it won't.
Someone will say “ " Well, Yes, it is now fashionable to declare love for the whole of Ukraine.” I won't tell anyone I love them. I will say frankly that I do not like many things: most of our pop and modern books, the arrogance of Ukrainian nationalists who are ready to divide everyone in the world into "our” and”not our". And in General, I think that it is stupid to consider, for example, Ukrainian daisies better than Russian ones.
I don't care who is Ukrainian and who is not. After all, we live in the same country, walk on the same land, eat ice cream factory “Khladoprom”, rejoice in the victories of the Klitschko brothers, watch “Roksolana” and “waiting Room”. I never thought about whether I could be considered a patriot. I just love Ukraine. Maybe one day I'll want to leave here, or even have to – anything can happen.
And maybe I'll like another country. But there will not be my friends, my parents, my favorite cartoons about the Cossacks, the story " Kaidashev SIM'ya” Nechuy-Levitsky and my mother's dumplings with strawberries, and many other things that I have associated with the concept of "homeland". Although far from Ukraine, you can find new friends, create your own family, love other cartoons, buy a volume of Nechuy-Levitsky somewhere, and you can learn to cook dumplings with strawberries yourself… Wait, what about Khreschatyk? What about the architectural reserve in Lviv?
