Leonardo da Vinci was born April 15, 1452, in the village of Anchiano near Vinci, near Florence. It parents were 25-year-old notary Piero and his beloved girl, Caterina. The first years of life Leonardo spent with her mother. His father soon married a rich and noble woman, but the marriage was childless, and Piero took his three year old son to raise. Separated from his mother Leonardo whole life trying to recreate her image in their masterpieces. In Italy the time to illegitimate children were treated almost as rightful heirs. Many influential people in the town of Vinci took part in the fate of Leonardo. When Leonardo was 13 years old, his mother died in childbirth. The father married again - and again was soon widowed. He lived for 78 years, was married four times and had 12 children. Father tried to introduce Leonardo to the family profession, but to no avail: the son was not interested in the laws of society.
