Bad day. every day in our lives we have to go through different events, both good and bad. there are days that give us lots of headache, we call them bad days. i’d like to tell you about one of those days. my morning was no different from those i normally have. however, i knew there is an important test ahead. our teacher of maths calls it a final exam of the year. so, you can imagine how important it was for everyone. i spent a week preparing for this test. as i said, my morning went quite well, but since the time i stepped out into the street the minor problems and misfortunes began. at first, i realized that i’d forgotten to take my lunch box, so i had to return. as people in my country say, coming back home can be a portent of bad luck. and that’s exactly how it worked for me on that day. i came back and went towards the school again. it is twenty minutes away from my home. on a way it started to rain. i guess it’s needless to say that i was without an umbrella. luckily my anorak was in the bag. its hood saved me from the heavy rain. when i got to school i realized i was late for test. my teacher doesn’t normally let the latecomers to enter the classroom. this time she was in good mood and decided to make an exception. i wish she hadn’t though, as the test turned out to be really difficult. i should confess, maths is not my favourite subject. i prefer humanitarian sciences instead, whereas my best friend and classmate liza prefers mathematical sciences. so, we try to help each other in case there is a difficult topic. however this time was different. liza was angry with me as we had a big argument a few days ago. for that reason, she refused to help me. in the end, i did badly in the test and was rather sad. i thought the second part of the day would be a little better, but as ill luck would have it, my mom gave away my favourite kitten. she said she didn’t want any pets running around the house. as you see, bad days happen and they can be indeed upsetting. перевод на язык: плохой день ежедневно в нашей жизни происходят различные события, как хорошие, так и плохие. бывают дни, нам головную боль, мы называем их днями. я хотела бы рассказать вам об одном из таких дней. мое утро ничем не отличалось от тех, что обычно у меня бывают. однако я знала, что впереди была важная контрольная работа. наш учитель по называл ее итоговой контрольной за год. итак, вы можете себе представить, насколько она для всех нас была важной. я провела неделю, готовясь к этому тесту. как я уже говорила, мое утро было довольно безоблачным, но как только я шагнула за порог, мои проблемы и невезения начались. во-первых, я вспомнила, что забыла взять с собой обед, поэтому пришлось возвращаться. как говорят люди в моей стране, возвращаться домой это знак невезения. именно так все и сработало для меня в тот день. я вернулась, а затем снова пошла в сторону школы. она расположена всего в двадцати минутах ходьбы от моего дома. по пути начался дождь. само собой разумеется, я была без зонта. к счастью моя спортивная куртка была в портфеле. ее капюшон спас меня от обильного дождя. когда я дошла до школы, то поняла, что опоздала на контрольную. мой учитель обычно не разрешает опоздавшим входить в класс. на этот раз он был в хорошем расположении духа и решил сделать исключение. лучше бы он этого не делал, поскольку тест оказался трудным. должна признаться, не мой любимый предмет. я предпочитаю гуманитарные науки, в то время как моя лучшая подруга и одноклассница лиза предпочитает науки. таким образом, мы стараемся друг другу в случае, если тема трудная. однако на этот раз все было иначе. лиза злилась на меня, так как у нас вышла крупная ссору как раз за несколько дней до этого. по этой причине, она отказалась мне. в конце концов, я плохо справилась с контрольной, что меня расстроило. я думала, что вторая часть дня будет немного лучше, но как назло, моя мама избавилась от моего любимого котенка. она сказала, что не хочет видеть, как по дому бегают животные. как видите, плохие дни случаются, и они способны расстроить кого угодно.

During periods of terrorist activity, people in Britain are always being warned to look out for bombs. Any bag or parcel without an owner WAS seen as a risk to the public. Some time ago a cardboard box WAS found at the entrance to Bristol Zoo one day. It was noticed BY a visitor and reported to the director. Clearly, if it was a bomb and it went off, people might BE killed. So army bomb experts WERE called, and the box WAS safely blown up in a controlled explosion. Soon afterwards IT was reported that the box had BEEN left there by a boy wanting to find a new home for his pet rat. He WAS tired of the rat, he explained. The director of the zoo is thought TO be unenthusiastic about looking after people’s unwanted pets. No one knows what the rat would think if it WAS blown up.
