Last summer, I spent two months in Australia. I really wanted to visit the famous Australian Outback and enjoy its (1) nature. So, I stayed with a friend out in the middle of nowhere. On the first day. I went (2) hiking on my own. I was walking past some trees when I heard a (3) strange noise. (4) Suddenly, I saw a camel coming towards me. I was (5) amazed and frightened, too. It was huge. l (6) shouted for help, but that was a (7) stupid idea because I was alone. The camel came nearer, put its head next to mine and (8) smelt my hair. It was so horrible that I (9) fainted. When I woke up, it wasn't there. I thought maybe it was a dream, but my friend told me there were lots of camels living in the area. I never knew. It was quite an (10) experience.

Every year schoolchildren have their winter holidays. They usually last for 2 weeks: from the New Year’s Day till the 12th of January. I am sure that all of us look forward to this time because it’s a great chance not to get up early and to do what we want. As for me I always sleep till 9 a.m. during my winter holidays. Then I turn on my TV and lie in my bed for another hour.
Winter holidays are even more exciting because we celebrate New Year and Christmas. Our mood is joyful. The whole atmosphere is full of magic. People exchange presents, decorate their homes, cook delicious food, visit each other and have parties.
If the weather is cold I prefer to stay at home or visit my friends. They can also come to my place. We play computer games, surf the Internet or watch TV. The programmes on TV are really interesting during our holidays, so we watch plenty of cool films. In warm weather we go to the cinema or a café, play ice-hockey or go skiing to the park. Hockey and skiing are my hobbies. We can even play snowballs and make funny snowmen.
In the evening my mother often asks me to help her about the house. My duty is washing up, watering plants and taking the rubbish out. As I don’t have to get up early during my holidays my parents allow me to watch TV and read books till midnight.
I enjoy my winter holidays. It’s a nice time to relax and take a short rest from my studies. It’s a pity that winter holidays always pass so quickly.

Каждый год у школьников бывают зимние каникулы. Они обычно продолжаются в течение 2 недель: с Нового года и до 12 января. В холодную погоду я предпочитаю оставаться дома или навещать друзей. Они тоже приходят ко мне в гости. Мы играем на компьютере, сидим в интернете или смотрим ТВ. Во время наших каникул телепрограммы очень интересные, поэтому мы смотрим много классных фильмов. В теплую погоду мы ходим в кино или в кафе, играем в хоккей на льду или катаемся на лыжах в парке. Хоккей и лыжи – мои увлечения. Мы можем даже поиграть в снежки и слепить смешных снеговиков.
Вечером мама часто просит меня ей по дому. В мои обязанности входит мытье посуды, поливание цветов и вынос мусора. Так как мне не нужно вставать в каникулы рано, родители разрешают смотреть ТВ и читать книги до полуночи.
Мне нравятся зимние каникулы. Это прекрасное время для отдыха и короткого перерыва от учебы. Жаль, что зимние каникулы всегда пролетают так быстро.
