Many people can’t imagine their life without pets. I’m one of them. I think that pets create a special atmosphere at home. As for me, I love all kinds of domestic animals: cats, dogs, hamsters, turtles, rabbits, parrots, etc. If I could choose, I’d keep all of these animals in our flat, but my mum and dad are against it. They allow me to keep only one cat and two hamsters. The cat’s name is Barsik and the hamsters’ names are Nicky and Rich. Nicky is a girl and Rich is a boy. They are very cute. Barsik doesn’t seem to like them much, so I try to keep them in separate rooms. I know that English people like pets too. Most of them live in detached houses far from the noise of the cities. That’s why they can afford having two, three and more pets. I have a pen friend from Chesterfield. Her name is Ann. In a recent letter to me she wrote that they have six pets: two dogs, three cats and a rabbit. I think she is one lucky girl! When I ask my mum to buy a dog, she says that she doesn’t want to turn our flat into the zoo. From one hand, I understand her. All pets need proper care, lots of effort and attention. For example, last time when my cat got sick, we spent a whole week at the veterinary clinic. As for dogs, they also need lots of medicine and injections. I will need to walk it at least twice a day. I will need to be careful of ticks in the grass. It means that keeping a pet is a very responsible hobby. That’s why my parents don’t want many of them in the flat. Oh well, they promised to get a small aquarium with fishes for me next week.
My family lives in a 9-storeyed building, which is situated near the city center. There is a nursery, school, several shops and a brasserie not far from the house. We have an elevator in our communal entrance hall. We live on the seventh floor, that’s why we’re glad that we needn’t to walk up. Our flat is very comfortable and cozy. It has three rooms: my parents’ bedroom, my room, a living room. It also includes a kitchen, a hallway and a bathroom. Our flat is provided with all modern conveniences: cold and hot running water, electricity, central heating, and telephone. A living room is the biggest one in our flat. It has a long table with several chairs round in the middle. To the right of the table, there is a big wall unit with a wardrobe and different shelves. Opposite the table, an occasional table with a TV set on it stands from one side. There is a cozy sofa with two arm chairs from the other side. The floor is covered with a beautiful carpet with patterns. The pictures are hanging on the walls. My parents’ bedroom is cozy and spacious. There is a bed with two dressing tables and small lamps on each of them. My room is the smallest one. It’s very cozy and bright. It has a desk, an armchair, a wardrobe and a bed. My wooden shelves are overflowed with books, because I like to read. There is also a computer on my desk. Our kitchen is big enough. In the middle it has a dining-table with chairs. Opposite it, there is a cupboard with cooking utensils. The kitchen has a refrigerator to the right of cupboard and a sink to the left. Our kitchen is well-equipped. It has a toaster, a food processor, a microwave and a coffee maker. We like to spend evenings in our cozy kitchen, to drink tea and talk. I like my flat very much as it is one of some places, where I feel peaceful. Моя семья живет в девятиэтажном здании, которое находится близко к центру города. Недалеко от нашего дома есть детский сад, школа, несколько магазинов и маленький ресторанчик. В нашем подъезде есть лифт. Мы живем на седьмом этаже, поэтому очень рады, что нам не нужно подниматься пешком. Наша квартира очень комфортная и уютная. В ней три комнаты: спальня моих родителей, моя комната и гостиная. Также в нашей квартире есть кухня, коридор и ванная комната. Наша квартира оснащена всеми современными удобствами: холодная и горячая вода, электричество, центральное отопление и телефон. Самая большая комната в нашей квартире – это гостиная. В центре комнаты стоит стол с несколькими стульями. Справа от него стоит стенка с платяным шкафом и различными полочками. Напротив стола, с одной стороны, находится маленький столик с телевизором, с другой – удобный диван с двумя креслами. На полу лежит ковер с красивыми узорами. На стенах висят картины. Спальня моих родителей уютная и просторная. Возле стены стоит кровать с прикроватными тумбочками, на которых стоят маленькие лампы. Моя комната самая маленькая, но очень удобная и светлая. В ней есть стол, кресло, шкаф и кровать. Полки переполнены книгами, так как я люблю читать. Наша кухня достаточно большая. Посередине стоит обеденный стол со стульями. Напротив него шкаф с посудой. Слева от шкафа раковина, справа – холодильник. Наша кухня хорошо оснащена, в ней есть тостер, комбайн, микроволновая печь и кофеварка. Мы любим проводить вечера в нашей уютной кухоньке, пить чай и разговаривать. Мне очень нравится моя квартира, так как это одно из тех мест, где я чувствую себя умиротворённо.
