The inclusion of basketball in the Olympics became possible after creation in 1932 the International Amateur basketball Federation (FIBA). Thanks to the negotiations of the first Secretary General of FIBA Renato William Jones and Secretary General of the Committee for the Games of the XI Olympiad Karl Diem on Board the ferry traveling from Stockholm in Germany, October 19, 1934, the Berlin Committee at the plenary session approved the inclusion of basketball in the program of Olympic games. By the decision of session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on February 28, 1935 in Oslo basketball was recognized as an Olympic sport.
