Это были деревья, которые опадают  иглами в течение нескольких дней . Несмотря на это, я по-прежнему очень люблю их: их ароматические запахи всегда возвращают меня обратно в детство с дикой надеждой, что там может быть за окном снег на Рождество. Елки делают сегодня стремительно развивающийся бизнес, и есть сорта деревьев, которые держат свои иглы на длительный период времени. Но я лично украшаю елку, ставлю декорации всего за три или четыре дня до Рождества. Когда мы были детьми,  канун Рождества был посвящен  упаковке подарков. Мы были так взволнованы, казалось, что мы почти не спали всю ночь. Одетый в красный костюм, Дед Мороз должным образом появился утром, чтобы разбудить нас. Потом был лихорадочное открытие подвешанных чулок в конце нашей кровати. Увы, подарки были под елкой, могли быть открыты только после того, как Рождественский пирог съедался  во время полдника. В юном  возрасте это было настоящая высокая точка рождественских праздников.
