Computer games teach us nothing and young people should avoid them
The more people are interested in computer games, the more widespread is the concern that playing computer games can be harmful. Computer games are looked down upon as time wasters. However in my opinion, the truth is that computer games have a bright side as well.
I think that playing computer games is not as bad as some may believe. First of all, there are a lot of educational games. Researchers suggest that playing computer games makes kids smart. Pupils and students can learn a lot of skills including languages and mathematics while playing certain games. Besides, they learn to make quick decisions. Secondly, it is a good way to relax after a hard school day. Playing computer games like Minesweeper or Tetris, helps to reduce stress.
At the same time there are people who think that computer games are useless. Children can play games all day long and forget about studying. It often leads to addiction which in its turn causes obesity or eye strain. Some people believe that kids pick up bad behavior and abusive language from various computer games. Playing violent computer games can lead to aggressive behaviour.
To sum it up, like every coin has two sides, playing computer games has both benefits and drawbacks. It is important to understand that it is possible to minimize the ill effects of this pastime and achieve more benefit from it. All we need to do is to limit the time on playing games, avoid playing violent games and include sports and physical activity in our daily schedule.
