Thick of a celebration in your country. collect information from the internet then write a short paragraph about it. write: name of festival, time of the year, activities, food. p.s.
My favourite holiday is New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. We celebrate this holiday on December 31 and January 1. The whole family assembles at the big dinner table with lots of delicious food. Traditional Russian New Year dishes are Olivie salad, “Seledka Pod Shuboi” (“Herring Under the Fur Coat”), which is a beetroot and herring salad, pickled vegetables and mushrooms, meat and potatoes or roast chicken.
While having dinner we usually watch New Year TV shows and then, at midnight, we say, “Goodbye, Old Year. Hello, New Year!”
Some people like to celebrate this holiday outdoors, so they go to central city squares where there is a large New Year tree. People sing songs, dance and watch fireworks.
