Why do we learn foreign languages Our time is an epoch of serious and global international relations. It makes people to live according to some special rules and settings. One of them is learning a foreign language. It is an actual vital problem nowadays. There are people who agree to this fact, and there are people who do not. I will try to introduce the former point of view. I think, learning a foreign language is necessary for every modern person. Firstly, it gives a great professional choice. Knowing a foreign language, I will be able to live and work abroad in future. Secondly, for me it is more important that it broadens my outlook. I can read books and watch films in their original version. And thirdly, learning a foreign language also teaches to think logically and understand the world of another, not your country’s, culture. But I know many people who do not support this opinion. For them learning of a foreign language is useless because they are not planning to live abroad as it is not patriotically. As for me, we should know any languages besides our native Russian independently of our plans. And on the contrary, it is a manifestation of a real patriotism because with the help of a foreign language we can promote our country, make it more progressive in foreigners’ opinion. In conclusion, I would like to say in particular about my foreign language. I study English. It is one of the most spread languages of the world. Without English it is impossible to communicate with other people all over the planet.
A lot of subcultures were appearing in former USSR members right after the breakup of the USSR. There were a lot of them. For example, hippies, gopniks, rockers or etc. I want to tell you about the hippies. I don't know why, but I favor them the most. Hippies were in USSR since early sixties. They wore torn jeans, string bracelets (fer-nee-chkee in Russian) and bandanas on their heads. Hippies had long entangled hair and grubby clothing. They were fond of love and pacifizm, they absolutely loved freedom, even in taking drugs. They have used a lot of slang-phrases. For example, "girla" or "ppl". They created communes for living together. They travelled using pass-by cars and had earned money by begging or playing on music instruments. I do not appreciate any of these informal communes and I do not want to become a person like them. I just want to be unique like all other people.
This autumn my mother, sister and me traveled to Spain. It took us much time to get to Spain, but it was worth it. I was very surprised to find out that the weather in Spain is hot, because in Russia it was too cold. Many people in Spain do not speak Russian, many people wear very simple clothes, and it was difficult to get used to.
There we met many children. We did not notice that they did not understand us. We were friends and played together. My family and I often walked along the streets. It was wonderful. Streets in Spain are very clean. We also visited a large aquarium. There we saw different fishes, sharks, and rays. We spent two weeks in Spain.
When we came back to Russia it was already snowing here. I enjoyed the trip.

Я была удивлена, когда увидела, что в Испании очень жарко потому, что в России было уже холодно. Многие люди в Испании не говорят по-русски, многие носят очень простую одежду, и привыкнуть к этому было очень трудно.
Там мы познакомились со многими детьми. Мы даже не заметили, что они не понимают нас. Мы стали друзьями и играли вместе. Мы часто гуляли по улицам. Это было здорово. Улицы в Испании очень чистые. Мы также посетили большой аквариум. Там мы видели различных рыб, акул и скатов. Мы провели две недели в Испании.
