The celebration of the New Year on the night of December 31 to January 1 has its roots in the Soviet past of Kazakhstan, so little is celebrated from the meeting of the New Year in Ukraine. Now it is one of the most popular holidays in the country. The decoration of Christmas trees has become a ubiquitous phenomenon. The streets of the cities are maximally decorated with New Year's decoration. However, on the streets you can rarely meet Santa Claus (Kazakh: Ayaz Ata) and Snow Maiden (Kazakh: Aishagar) - they are usually guests of corporate events.
However, in the main squares of the country with people dressed in costumes of Santa Claus and Snow Maiden can be photographed, as well as invite them home through special agencies for ceremonial services. Kindergartens with the participation of these and other New Year's characters are held everywhere in kindergartens the day before. Exactly at midnight, people sip glasses of champagne, sit down at the New Year's table, and then pay visits to friends and relatives.
