More and more teenagers nowadays do not make any difference in behaving themselves with their parents and friends. They consider that such requirements of social behaviour as politeness and responsibility for the consequence of one's actions are not now important or actual. I am opposed to this point of view for several reasons.
To begin with, it is reported that the number of criminal activities which are on the increase today was caused by the improper understanding of young people of the role they should play in society. Instead of being polite to their parents and adults in general, teenagers of today show their carelessness and rudeness in communication with adults. Moreover, this kind of behaviour has turned into a lifestyle that is being accepted as a feature to follow when it comes to relationships between parents and children. It can be illustrated by the fact that pupils now treat their teachers as equals and parent-child relations are now much more relaxed.
In addition to this, this irresponsible behaviour led to the breakdown in the traditional family and the decay in educational standards. Some teenagers argue that they just want to be more open-minded and sociable but all the negative trends such as the increase of juvenile delinquency and bad marks got by teenagers in schools, prove their objections are not acceptable.
In conclusion, it must be admitted that teenagers should be allowed a certain degree of freedom in their relations with their parents or senior relatives but I think we should draw a line somewhere to reverse this trend of considering parents as peers and ignoring the common rules of social norms.
