True sparrows (lat. Passer) is a genus of birds of the Sparrow family (Passeridae), a typical representative of which is the house Sparrow (Passer domesticus). Usually it is a small bird with a short tail and short powerful beak.Have strong, short, thick, conical, slightly bent beak, short legs, armed with weak claws, short rounded wings and a short, truncated, or slightly notched tail.
For sparrows is characterized by sexual dimorphism, whereby males and females are typically colored differently; for males it is characteristic black throat.Are sedentary or nomadic birds, and some species are migratory. Many types of synanthropy, being closely associated with man and settled near his dwellings and settlements.Feed on seeds of plants, being mainly granivorous birds.
