Kazakhstan is the largest of the Central Asian states. It has borders with Russia, China, and the Central Asian countries of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan.
The Republic of Kazakhstan is washed by the waters of the Caspian and Aral Seas, on its territory there are many rivers and lakes. The depths of the ancient Kazakh land are fabulously rich. Coal, oil, gold, titanium, lead, zinc, iron - everything can be found in Kazakh land. In Kazakhstan, like a single family live more than sixteen million people, representatives of more than one hundred nationalities. Books and newspapers are published in Kazakh, Russian, Uighur, German, Korean, Tatar and other languages; national theatres, variety of ensembles are working in many towns of the republic, national radio and television programmes are also broadcast in many languages in Kazakhstan. The desire for harmony lives in the blood of every nation, but it is especially developed among Kazakhstanians. The Kazakh land is generous, and the Kazakh people are generous and hospitable. All living here know their language, history and customs. There are two official languages in Kazakhstan: the Kazakh and the Russian languages. Kazakhstan is a country of great opportunities, only fifteen years ago it became independent. Its development is proceeding at a great pace. It is becoming a prosperous country. The capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the City of Nur-Sultan. More than 16 million people live in the republic.
The main cities are Almaty, Nur-Sultan, Atyrau, Aktobe, Karaganda, Pavlodar,
Ust-Kamenogorsk, Shymkent and others. Money is called Tenge.
