It was a fresh, clear morning. Pamela opened the window and looked out. Her flat was on the THIRD floor and she could see the busy street below perfectly well.

Pamela was happy to live in the city. She came from a small village and moved to the city only two years before. Here she had a good job, a nice flat, and lots of new friends – she could not wish for a BETTER life than now.

Though Tom’s voice sounded calm and casual, she FELT a sudden panic.

Задание 26
I always try to help people. I can help a person morally but most of all I help people to do something. I can help the old lady cross the road or bring her bags to her house. I can give advice, teach a person something. And of course I help gratuitously. I think this is the right way. We have to help people and they will help us next time!
The most popular hobby of the Kazakh is gardening.
Most Kazakhstan people love gardens above all, and this is probably one reason why so many people prefer to live in houses rather than in flats.
In the suburbs you can see row after row of ordinary small houses. And each house is surrounded by lots of flowers.
Many people who have no gardens of their own have patches of land. They spend much leisure time working among their flowers, trees and vegetables.
The Kazakh take part in numerous flower-shows and vegetable shows with very good prizes. Such shows are very popular in Kazakhstan. To many gardeners the process of growing the plants and taking care of them seems more important than the pleasure of looking at the flowers or the prospect of eating vegetables. In many places a competitive gardener’s desire is to grow the biggest cabbages or leeks or carrots.
So this is the most favourite hobby of the Kazakh people.
