Many people think programmers look like typical nerds. Merriam Webster definition nerd is:
•a person who behaves awkwardly around other people and usually has unstylish clothes, hair, etc.
•a person who is very interested in technical subjects, computers, etc.
However, I think this is not the case. Programmers are really nerdy to some extent. They like to study, which means they have a lot of hobbies, including sports. They look after their appearance and look like everyone else. Developers sit facing the computer all day though, so they need comfortable clothing. That doesn't mean ugly clothing. When it comes time to party they could dress up like anyone else. In a tech company good developrs are paid as much as a senior manager, so they have the resource to look good.
