St Valentine’s Day comes on February 14. It is not a national holiday. It is celebrated among people of all ages by exchange of “valentines”. A “valentine” may mean a special greeting-card or a little present. St Valentine is the patron of sweethearts. February 14 is the anniversary of his death. Flowers and candy are favourite presents which sweethearts send to each other. Candy is packed in red heart-shaped boxes and sold for this only one day. There is a postbox in our school and every year I receive several valentines from boys. I’m not upset, because I know that’s not love it’s just sympathy. I love this holiday because it gives people happiness and joy. For sweethearts this holiday is another reason to show their love.
День Святого Валентина приходится на 14 февраля. Это не государственный праздник. Он отмечается среди людей всех возрастов, путем обмена "валентинками". Валентинка означает специальную открытку или маленький подарок. Святой Валентин является покровителем влюбленных. 14 февраля годовщина его смерти. Цветы и конфеты являются любимыми подарками, которые влюбленные посылают друг другу. Конфеты упаковывают в красную коробку в форме сердца и продаются только один день. У нас в школе стоит почтовый ящик, и каждый год в этот день мне приходят несколько валентинок от мальчиков. Но никто не пишет свои имена, поэтому я не могу узнать, кому я нравлюсь. Я люблю этот праздник, за то, что он дарит людям много радости и счастья. А влюбленным еще один повод проявить свою любовь.
My school is the best. My school is a four-storeyed building. Pupils of primary school study on the ground floor. There is a big gym in our school. Our physical training lessons and different sport competitions are held there. We celebrate holidays in assembly hall. All classrooms of our school are light and spacious. There are physics and chemistry labs where we can make experiments. There are new computers in the computer sciences room. Our pupils often win the city academic competitions. Teachers who work in our school are very good. Each of them teaches well and their lessons are quite interesting. Our form-mistress’ name is Irina. She is a teacher of Russian and literature. Thank to her our class is united and exemplary. I and all my classmates often go to the cinema, theatre, museums and exhibitions. During summer holidays I miss my school. I like my school very much.
