Present Continuous используется для продолжительных действий. Например: 1 Действия, которые происходят прямо сейчас - She is sleeping 2 Действия, происходящие в данный отрезок времени - I am studying (учусь, не обязательно сейчас, а вообще) или I am reading this book - читаю, не в данный момент, а просто, ещё не закончила читать. 3 Какое-то временное обстоятельство, которое должно скоро закончится - it is raining 4 Что-то, что происходит регулярно, чато используется для описания действий, которые раздражают, обычно используется с такими словами, как always, constantly, и т.д. - they are always arguing 5 Что-то, что произойдёт в скором времени - the train is leaving soon
Некоторые слова почти никогда не используются в этой форме - глаголы, означающие чувства (hate, want), мнения (assume, imagine) меры (cost, weigh).
В некоторых случаях Present Continuous меняет смысл слов. Например, I feel - я чуствую себя, I am feeling - я трогаю I see - я вижу, I am seeing - я встречаюсь
