Результаты: 
1) в течении всего десятилетия соблюдался принцип многопартийности – это один из основополагающих принципов демократического государства; 
2) в парламенте был представлен весь спектр политических взглядов: и правые, и левые – сохранялся плюрализм мнений во власти; 
3) кроме политических партий определённое влияние получили общественные организации (например, «Комитет солдатских матерей России») – таким образом осуществлялся по крайней мере частичный контроль властных структур со стороны общества; 
4) большое влияние для политической карьеры стал играть имидж политика, формируемый свободной прессы – это также одна из форм контроля властных структур со стороны общества по средством свободной журналистики.
