ЛЕОПАРД Отряд: Хищные - Carnivora Семейство: Кошачьи - Felidae Род: Panthera Распространение: Ареал леопарда занимает значительную часть Передней Азии, юг Средней Азии, Аравийский п-ов, значительную часть Юго-Вост. Азии и практически всю Африку к югу от Сахары. Местообитания: Зона жизнедеятельности леопарда - покрытые лесом, сильно расчлененные горные территории с узкими водораздельными гребнями и крутыми склонами, увалы со скалистыми обнажениями до высот 300-500 м н.у.м. Высоко в горы, особенно зимой, леопард не поднимается. Пребывание его даже на высотах 650-700 м не совсем обычно Охрана: Занесен в Красный список. Охота на леопарда запрещена с 1956 г., в 1966 г. введен запрет на отлов живых зверей. В пределах ареала переднеазиатского леопарда в России расположены некоторые заповедники Кавказа. Необходимо создание высокогорного заповедника на Богосском хр. или Дюльтыдагском горном массиве. Дальневосточный леопард охраняется в заповеднике Кедровая падь. Специально для охраны леопарда в 1979 г. создан заказник республиканского значения Барсовый, однако на его территории находятся 2 действующих военных полигона и ведется интенсивная хозяйственная деятельность.
