Robert Lewis Stevenson was a novelist, poet and essayist who (1) became very successful at a certain stage of (2) his career. The son of a well-to-do engineer, Stevenson (3) was expected to follow his father’s footsteps. Nevertheless young Stevenson (4) felt that engineering was not for (5) him. He entered Edinburgh University and soon (6) began writing. In 1875 he qualified as a lawyer. At that time he already (7) became a popular writer thanks to his essays (8) published in a number of newspapers and magazines. Soon his poor health became (9) worse which made him (10) spend a lot of time away from home in the countries with a more suitable climate. He spent a lot of time in France where he made up his famous “Treasure Island”.
This month I have visited London for the first time. It was amazing! I have got a lot of unforgettable memories as well as I have found some good friends. I have particularly enjoyed being at the very top of the London Eye.London -is one of the few places where life is literally 24/7. Everything is shining at night. Moreover,I have visited Sherlock Holmes' museum and Westminster Cathedral. I have traveled by underground which is totally different from the one in Russia. Even though London is an expensive city, it is very friendly and there are a lot of places to visit!
