In the middle of the 15th century a very important event (took) place in Europe: the situation in the written literature ( changed) radically,the printing press(was create). The name of a man who ( invented) it was Johannes Gutenberg. He( lived) in Germany, in Mainz. Gutenberg ( built) and ( operated) the first ever printing press with movable metal letters. Simple printing methods (had existed) for centuries, of course, but they (were done) by hand and ( needed) much time. The new press ( had) the individual letters (to be moved) quickly by the typist and different new pages (were created). Due to that, books(were printed) cheaper and more quickly than ever before. More and more printing presses (were being build) across Europe. As a result, more people (learnt) to read. Thanks to Gutenberg's discovery written fiction (was brought) to ordinary men and women.
