Born into a famous family of translators Nicholas Wilmont and Natalia man. Father future writer was known not only as translator but also as a literary critic-Germanist. Mom, Natalie Mans, translated from the French prose ("the Doctor in spite of himself" by Moliere), German (Thomas Mann) and English (Jack London, Archibald Cronin, Somerset Maugham). Catherine from childhood moved in literary circles, however, about the career of a writer did not think, instead, decided to follow in the footsteps of their parents – to become a translator. By the end of school, Catherine had a good command of languages thanks to the parents, although technically she's a graduate of some German courses to obtain the "papers".
