To begin with, this device is a bit outdated in terms of technological advances. It has been successfully replaced by the smartphone, as many other gadgets once left behind.

I addition, it much depends on who and how is going to exploit the device. Sometimes it is quite challenging to adapt some technology to the classroom routines due to the numerous limitations.

Nevertheless, a creative teacher can always find some effective applications of the device. For instance, holiday extra listening tasks sent to the students via email and then stored on their MP3 players significantly boost their  listening comprehension if practised regularly.

As a feedback, students could collect their holiday aural practice assignments, edit and enhance the initial attempts. Later, at the teachers request, they submit the ultimate result via email or other sharing options.

And finally, students' favourite tracks are a good source of the lesson content. Students can present their most-loved musicians or composers to the rest of the class and have a chance to practice English through involving discussion or debates.

To sum up, I welcome any technology in the classroom as long as it promotes students' development and academic achievements.

The tidal force causes the sea to bulge out on the side closest to the Moon and the side farthest from the Moon.
