Dangerous Sports
Why do people take risks? Why do they play dangerous sports?
When things go wrong, who pays for the rescue? Diving alone through the desert certainly has its dangers. Yes, there are other dangerous activities – at least five categories of them, depending on where they occur: (1) under the ground, (2) on the ground, (3) under the sea, (4) in the air, or (5) in a combination of these locations.
Spelunking is a sport where explorers go deep inside underground carves that are dark and wet. For an above ground sport there is mountain or rock climbing. These are risky because many climbers, although they are usually careful, fall or are covered in avalanches in bad weather. Many people enjoy scuba diving, which requires special training in the use of oxygen underwater. Surfers get a thrill from the big ocean waves they ride. Bungee jumping is a different kind of thrill. A person tied to an elastic cord jumps from a high place. Cord is just long enough so that it stops the jumper a few inches above the ground below. Hang gliding and sky diving are also unsafe for a thrill seeker since, because of unpredictable air currents, the person cannot always control exactly where the glider or the parachute will come down.
Another dangerous sport in the news recently is hot air ballooning. In April 1999, an Englishman and a Swiss were the first to go around the earth in a hot air balloon. Many other adventures have tried to do this circumnavigation before. However, they had to be rescued in the Pacific Ocean or in other remote parts of the world.
Perhaps there is a thrill that people get from dangerous sports. May be they want more excitement in there lives. Who knows? Nevertheless, these rescues cost thousands of dollars. In addition to ships, planes, and helicopters, other people –expert rescuers-are also involved. They find themselves in the dangerous position of bringing these adventurers back to safety. Even expert mountain climbers on occasion need rescuing, as was the case some years ago on Mt. Everest. So the next time you hear of an adventurer in some dangerous situation, ask yourself: Who`s paying for that thrill?

First of all I want to tell you that my name is Kate and I'm 15. My height is nearly 159 cm. But I'd like to be a bit taller. Well,  I’m not slim but I'm not fat either. 

I have a round face as everyone has, a bit long nose and big cheerful grey eyes. My skin is a bit pale but I like this fact, I don't like ruddy faces. I have no freckles as my friend Nina has. My forehead is open. I think I have a charming smile. 

My hair isn't very short but it's not long either. It is straight and black. I have rich hair.

I think that I look like my father and I'm proud of it.

 

 

Прежде всего, я хочу сказать вам, что меня зовут Катя и мне  15. Мой рост около 159 см. Но я хотела бы быть немного выше. Ну, я не худенькая, но я и не толстая.
У меня круглое лицо, как и у всех, немного длинный нос и большие радостные серые глаза. Moя кожа немного бледная, но мне это нравится, я не люблю румяные лица. У  меня нет веснушек как у моей подруги Нины. У меня открытый лоб.  Я думаю, у меня очаровательная улыбка.

Мои волосы не очень короткие, но это не длинные. Они прямые и  черные. У меня густые волосы.
Я думаю, что я похожа на моего отца, и я горжусь этим.

1) At the English lesson: we speak, listen to English records, do exercises, ask and answer questions, read texts and stories, recite poems, sing songs, make and watch presentations, watch cartoons, write letters, tests, dictations and compositions, retell texts, play games, make reports, discuss different topics, describe pictures, learn a lot of new words and grammar rules, translate words,sentences and texts, make up dialogues and much more. 
2) At the Russian lesson: we speak, listen to Russian records, do exercises, ask and answer questions, read texts, stories and novels, recite poems,  make and watch presentations,  write tests, dictations and compositions, retell texts, play games, make reports, discuss different topics, describe pictures, learn grammar rules, make up dialogues and much more. 

1) На уроке английского языка: мы говорим, слушаем английские записи, делаем упражнения, задаём и отвечаем на вопросы, читаем тексты и сказки, рассказываем стихи, поём песни, делаем презентации и смотрим их, смотрим мультфильмы, пишем письма, тесты, диктанты и сочинения, пересказываем тексты, играем в игры, делаем сообщения по теме, обсуждаем различные темы, описываем картинки, учим много новых слов и правил по грамматике, переводим слова, предложения и тексты, составляем диалоги и многое другое. 
2) На уроке русского языка: мы говорим, слушаем русские записи, делаем упражнения, задаём и отвечаем на вопросы, читаем тексты, рассказы и романы, стихи, делаем и смотрим презентации, пишем контрольные диктанты и сочинения, пересказываем тексты, играем в игры, делаем сообщения, обсуждаем различные темы, описываем картинки, учим грамматические правила, составляем диалоги и делаем многое другое.
