Susan: And my first question is, what is your family like?
Emily: Well, in our family there are nine of us: my husband, me and my kids, Jeremy, Susan, Steve, John, Emily, Frank and Ashly.
Susan: Holy cats, haven't you managed to figure out where kids come from yet? Ok. You've certainly got a bunch of teens fooling around in your house. Do you have any problems with them?
Emily: Every family has problems because there are no ideal relationship. Conflicts happen from time to time.
Susan: Right, adolescence can be a challenging time when raising a child. And how do you deal with it?
Emily: Wise people try to decide such problems without insulting children. They are going through a difficult period, it's understandable. We were all teenagers once.
Susan: How do you think, what's the most difficult part?
Emily: One of the most difficult problems among adults and youngster is the struggle for independence. At some point children realize that they want to be independent, they don't need help or advice from parents. That's when conflicts start. The only solution is to hear each other and to talk about it.
Susan: With all due respect, but you don't seem to look like a professional psychologist. Where does you knowledge come from?
Emily: My knowledge comes from my experience. I prefer to settle all our problems peacefully. Adults should understand that their children are no longer kindergarten kids. They have grown and they need special attention. Family conflict is not a disaster. It can be solved if treated sensibly.
Susan: So, adults should try to give more attention to their children especially at such a difficult age. Ok. Thanks for your answers, Emily.
