Big shops are widely spread in every Russian city nowadays as they provide a great variety of different things from food to clothes.
In my home city big shops are not a rare thing either. My family and I enjoy going to the Mall at weekends to have some fun together at the cinema or to do the shopping.
In my friend's home town big shops are rare. They have a few shops in the town centre, but most of the shops are rather small. Other shops are situated all around the town, but they don't provide so many things as the big shops.
In my granny's place there are no big shops at all. They are used to small ones situated in the suburbs. Personally, I think it's rather inconvenient to because they spend a lot of time to go shopping because of the distance they have to overcome every time to get to the necessary shop.
