The clock said half-past ten. I closed my books, went to bed and soon fell asleep. In the middle of the night I woke up and saw that my father’s bed was empty. I remembered that he had promised to be at home by eleven at the latest. As he had never broken his promises before, I felt sure that something serious had happened to him. It took me a few seconds to decide what to do. I ran down the steps of the cabin into the night. It was light as a full moon was shining. To my right (lie) the lonely road that leaded to the dangerous wood. A wild and dangerous idea came to my mind. Not long before that my father had taught me to drive the car. So I thought that the quickest way to find my father was to drive as fast as I could. Half an hour later I found my father in the forest with a broken leg.
