Family ConflictsКонфликты в семьеEvery family has problems because there are no ideal relationships. Conflicts usually appear between parents and their teenage offsprings. Wise parents try to decide such problems without insulting or pressurizing children. Teenagers are rather sensitive. They are going through a difficult period, when they have to choose future occupation, friends, interests. It’s also the time of first love and tears. So, parents should understand this and try to help them instead of useless moralizing. One of the most difficult problems among adults and youngsters is the struggle for independence. At some point children realize that they want to be independent, they don’t need help or advice from parents. They want to be left alone and to decide for themselves. That’s when family conflicts start. The only solution is to hear each other and to talk about it. Unfortunately, teens don’t understand that some things or situations can be dangerous and can have unwanted effects. This is the time when many youngsters try alcohol, cigarettes or drugs, not knowing that this one try can ruin all their life. They don’t understand that parents have gone through this and know how behave in certain situation. Meanwhile, adults should understand that their children are no longer kindergarten kids. They have grown and they need special attention. Family conflict is not a disaster. It can be solved if treated sensibly. There are many family therapists and psychologists nowadays, who help to solve such problems. The United States of America is a federal republic consisting of 50 states and a federal district. The country is situated mostly in central North America. However it owns several territories in the Caribbean and Pacific. The USA is bordered by Canada in the north and by Mexico in the south. It also has a maritime border with Russia. The country is washed by the Atlantic Ocean in the east and by the Pacific in the west.
The main part of the country consists of several highlands and lowlands regions. The highest mountains are the Appalachians and the Rocky mountains, which extend from Mexico to Canada. The main rivers of the US are the Mississippi, the Missouri, the Rio Grande, the Colorado and the Columbia. In the northern part of the country lie the regions of the Five Great Lake: Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Michigan, Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. Due to mountain ranges stretching from north to south the country is unprotected from cold winds.
The climate of the USA varies from one region to another. Most of the land is in the temperate zone. The weather ranges from warm, wet conditions of the Appalachians to the semi desert or desert conditions in the western states. There is no winter in such southern states as Arizona or Florida. However, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota experience very cold and severe winters. Speaking about the state of Alaska, it should be mentioned that those parts that lie above the Arctic Circle are covered with ice.
As for the country’s natural resources, the USA is rich in coal, oil, iron and some other minerals that form the basis of America’s industry.
