1

1 . Istanbul is the biggest city of Turkey.

2. I usually spend my summer holidays at my parents' home. I love summer holidays because I don't have to wake up early and I can do whatever I want. I help my parents with housework, for example, I do the shopping and  help my mum to cook, but I also have a lot of spare time, so I hang out with my friends or watch TV, or surf the Internet and chat with my friends on social networks and messengers.

2

1. I watched TV a lot yesterday. That's why I have sharp (или severe) pain in my eyes.

2. Uzbekistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia. It is bordered by Kazakhstan in west and north east, by Turkmenistan in south west, it has a short border with Afghanistan in south, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in east.

The country occupies an area of 447,400 km², which is about the size of Sweden. The landscape of Uzbekistan is dry with mostly flat-to-rolling sandy desert, inclusive sand dunes. Only about 10% of the country's area is intensively cultivated with irrigated land in river valleys and oases.

The population of  Uzbekistan is more than 33 million people. The capital and largest city is Tashkent.

3

1. If you get flu, you should drink a lot of hot milk, tea or herbal tea.

2. Life in big cities is faster and more stressful than life in the countryside. Life in villages is quieter and slower, but it is more boring than life in a city. There are more job  opportunities in cities and more educational organizations. Generally, cities have all modern facilities, but there is more traffic and more pollution.

4

1. On Saturday our class is going to the mountains for two days.

2. Nowadays we can see writings or paintings on walls almost in every city. It is great when there are 'graffiti zones' where artists are allowed to draw and paint on walls, but unfortunately there are people who paint on buses and trains, bus-stops and public or private property, which is considered vandalism. Some graffiti artists create great pictures that make cities look better, and such pictures can be called street art.

5

1. Have you ever seen a crocodile?

2. There are a lot of healthy habits that can help us live a longer and better life. First of all, we should stay active, play some active games or walk regularly. Secondly, we must eat such food as multi grain or whole grain bread, cereal products, fruit, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and seeds. It is important to drink plenty of water. Another important healthy habit is getting enough sleep.

6

1. I have never gone to the picnic with my friends.

2. It is great to have a pet. Pets make our life less stressful. When we give our pets love and attention, it makes us feel important and useful. Pets are very good friends. They love us and help us stay healthy. For example, people who own a dog have to walk more.

7

1. — I like animals.

   — So do I.

2. People must be friendly and kind to animals. If you have a pet, you should take care of it and treat it as a member of your family, not like a toy. Animals can't talk, but they can feel and they know when people are friendly or hostile.

Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleev is a famous Russian chemist. He is best known for his development of the properties of the chemical elements of the periodic table. This table shows that property elements change periodically when they are ordered atomic weight. Mendeleev was born in 1834 in Tobolsk, Siberia. He studied chemistry at the University of St. Petersburg and in 1859 he was sent to study at the University of Heidelberg. Mendeleev returns to St. Petersburg and became a professor of chemistry at a technical institute in 1863. He became a professor of general chemistry at the University of St. Petersburg in 1866. Mendeleev was a well-known teacher, and, because there was not a good textbook on chemistry at that time, He wrote in two volumes "Principles of Chemistry", which became a classic Textbook on Chemistry. In this book, Mendeleev tried to classify elements according to their chemical properties. In 1869, he published his first version of his periodic table of elements. In 1871, he published an improved version of the periodic table in which He left spaces for elements that were not known at that time. His table and theories were later confirmed when three predicted elements: gallium, germanium, and scandium were discovered. Mendeleev investigated chemical solution theories. He found that the best proportions of alcohol and water in vodka are 40%. He also investigated the thermal expansion of liquids and the nature of oil. In 1893, he became director of the Bureau of Weights and Measures in St. Petersburg and held this post until his death in 1907.
