Americans often express a great love of informality when using nicknames. These are shortened forms of their given name at birth and reflect the casual relationships which exist among friends and co-workers. Family names are hardly ever used in daily situations and the use of one’s father’s name is saved only for rare and formal occasions. In many traditional cultures the use of the family name is seen as a sign of respect. For Americans, however, it’s the nickname which creates an immediate intimacy between two people upon which to build a relationship. This love for nicknames can create a sense of closeness between people who are otherwise not related. Even the presidents of the United States have borne nicknames. Abraham Lincoln was known as ``Honest Abe``, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was simply called FDR, Eisenhower was referred to informally as Ike, President Ronald Reagan was affectionately called ``The Gripper``, and John F. Kennedy was known as Jack or JFK.

Not every nickname, however, is a compliment and some can be downright rude and insulting. If someone should demonstrate a certain negative characteristic, a label will soon be attached to describe that person in a non-flattering way. Likewise a person’s dominant physical traits may lead to nicknames that are not necessarily to one’s liking or choice.

First of all we are going to do a lot of sightseeing. We are going to see the Kremlin, Red Square, St Basil's Church, Lenin's Tomb, the Pushkin Museum
of Fine Arts and The State History Museum. Dad is also going to take us to the famous Bolshoi Ballet theatre. Isn't it wonderful, My sister wants to go on a day trip down the Moskva River but Dad says it's too tiring, so we are not going to travel there. That's OK though because we are going to spend a whole day at the Moscow Zoo, the largest zoo in RUSSIA which has a great collection of animals and exotic species.
I'm going to take lots of interesting pictures to show you when I get back. I'm also going to bring you a Matryoshka.
Mum can't wait to go shopping. She wants to visit the GUM department store, the largest department store in Russia, where you can fihd everything from clothes to caviar. She says she needs to have a whole day there. As for me, I'm going taste as many local dishes as possible. Russian cuisine is delicious and their pies and chocolates are just great. I hope I can fit in my clothes when we come back.
Greetings from Moscow! I arrived here with my family yesterday and we're already excited! The city is terrific and there are a million things to do.
Take care, Lucy.

School is a place where we are in a hurry every morning. It is possible to tell our other house. There we spend half of his time. Many do not like school. They do not want to walk her to sit in the classroom, listening to the teachers, and then another home something to teach. They want it to end soon. And I like my school.

School - it's not just calls, classes and teachers. Firstly, in school all my friends. No need to look for anybody, vyzvanivat, begging to come out for a walk. Every morning you will meet all in one class at a school desk. All of them, as you are waiting for change to run, talk, yell, draw, in general, to do something interesting. And after school all together we go home, negotiating the interesting moments. And do not worry, that tomorrow will be the same day, we were never bored.
