All of these things can happened within the next 25 years, but only one can cause another consequence. For example in some ways it is surprising that gene therapy hasn't been more successful in treating cancer. Gene therapy is where a working gene is added to a cell that has a broken gene. And cancer is caused by broken genes. But cancer results from damage in lots of different genes. In fact, many of the over 200 kinds of cancer are probably caused by different broken genes. This means gene therapy would probably need to add different genes to many or all of these different cancers. Cancer is also caused by genes with mistakes. It is a genetic disease. But it isn't exactly the same as other genetic diseases. This is because cancer usually happens when a gene becomes damaged after we are born. For example, sunlight can damage a gene. Or sometimes our cells accidentally damage their own DNA (ДНК). Either way, broken genes sometimes lead to cancer. Another example: Without drugs your chances of surviving severe malaria are nil. With drugs you should make it but, worryingly, even many medicines are losing their effectiveness. Drug resistance is a major threat. We know from history that every time we think we have outsmarted malaria, we learn the humbling lesson that we are dealing with a very wily parasite. Through universal coverage with current methods, and with the new tools in development, it's possible to save millions of lives in the near term, and may be able to eradicate malaria not in 25 but in the next 40 years I'm sure. The only thing of this list is impossible to realize next 25 years because I think that the humanity is not ready to live 150 years. Otherwise I would call it as singularity!
No doubt, everyone dreams of having a true and faithful friend but not all of us are lucky enough to find one. Frankly speaking, I’m rather sociable, that’s why I have many friends. As for me I’m happy with my friends. Firstly, I don’t have “fair weather” friends. Secondly, all my friends are very pleasant people, and I’m never bored with them. My best friend is Masha. We study in the same class and though she doesn’t live next door we manage to spend much time together. In appearance she is very attractive. She has an oval face, a straight nose, thick dark hair, big brown eyes and a pleasant smile. So people and, of course I, find her smart. Besides, Masha is known for her warm and friendly character. She is usually open-minded and interested in other people. More than that, she is considerate, supportive and responsible. I can always turn to her whenever I’m in trouble, and she never fails to help. I’d like to point out, that Masha is rather brainy, and that’s why she is excellent at school. In general Masha is loyal, trustworthy, tactful and great at keeping secrets. For me it is very important that my best friend is an honest girl. I can fully rely on her and trust her everything. To tell the truth, we have never let each other down. In conclusion I’d like to add, that my friend is an interesting person. She is well-read. Her favourite foreign author is Julian Rowling and her creation Harry Potter. Besides, she is keen on modern music and enthusiastic with sport. To sum up, “A good friend is like the sun in winter”, it’s about Masha. I’m the happiest girl in the world, because I have such a wonderful friend.
