Granddad: It’s fantastic, Mike. It’s so light and a portable. I used to like old computer but this is so much better. It’s so easy to carry and much quicker the use I ‘m a real silver surfer now!
Mike: What do you mean you’re a silver surfer?
Granddad: Well, Mike! It means I’m an older person who searches the internet.
Ellen: What a funny name? But it’s true your head is silver now, not dark like is to be in those photos when you were younger. And you are always online searching the internet, you never watch TV or go to the park with us like use to.
Mike: Yes, that’s right, Hellen! We used to go to the park at weekends and used to buy ice cream. You stopped doing it now. You never watch TV or listen to radio like you used to. Do you remember when you didn’t use to know what the internet was, Granddad? And I used to have to turn on the computer for you, because you could never remember how to do it. I never have to help you now.
Granddad: Yes, it was all new to me, when your grandmother got us to buy the old computer, so we could keep in touch with your uncle when he moved from England to Japan. Your grandmother used to write letters every week and send lots of cards when he first moved there. I thought your grandmother would never stop writing letters and sending cards. But when your cousin was born she wanted to see photos and videos and chat to your uncle over the computer. So we stopped writing letters and learnt to send emails, download videos and chat on line instead. Now, Mike and Ellen, have a look at the latest photo of your cousins in Japan.
