There are a great number of different writers in each country. But my favourite writer is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. He is famous for his detective stories about Sherlock Holmes.
The British writer was born in Scotland on 22 of May 1859. He had a big family. He had parents and seven brothers and sisters.
Konan Doyle started to write when he was a third-year student. But his first story appeared whe the writer was 6 years old. It was called Traveller and Tiger. In the university he wrote A Study in Scarlet. It was the first book about the famous detective. It is interesting that the prototype of this character was Konan Doyle's teacher professor Joseph Bell. He was given such horner for his power of observation, logic and his ability to draw right conclusions.
Except detective stories the author wrote fantacy and science fiction. If you are fond of it, I recomend you to read such books as The Lost World, The Doings of Raffles Haw or The Maracot Deep. Many critics and readers note that Doyle's works are remarcable for the reality of the naration. While reading you belive that places and things described the a book exist.

Olivier salad is a traditional salad dish in Russian cuisine. It is also very popular in other European countries, Iran, Israel, Mongolia and Latin America. Nowadays there are several recipes of this salad.

Traditionally it is made with diced boiled potatoes, carrots, pickles, green peas, boiled eggs, onions, celeriac, tart apples and diced boiled chicken (or, sometimes, ham). The salad is dressed with mayonnaise. Salt, pepper and mustard are added as well to enhance the flavour. In Russia, Ukraine and other post-Soviet states this salad has become a real must-have during the celebration of New Year. It is served in nearly every household.

The original version of the salad was invented in the 1860s by a Belgian chef, Lucien Olivier. At that time he worked in Hermitage, one of Moscow’s most celebrated restaurants. The salad very quickly became a specialty dish which everyone wanted to try.

The exact recipe, particularly that of the dressing, was kept a secret. Today’s popular version of Olivier salad only faintly resembles Olivier’s original creation. It is known as a version of Ivanov’s Stolichny salad.

Салат «Оливье» является традиционным салатом в российской кухне. Он также очень популярен в других европейских странах, Иране, Израиле, Монголии и Латинской Америке. Сегодня известно несколько рецептов этого салата.

Традиционно он состоит из нарезанного кубиками вареного картофеля, моркови, соленых огурцов, зеленого горошка, вареных яиц, лука, сельдерея, кислых яблок и нарезанной кубиками вареной курицы (или, иногда, ветчины). Салат заправляется майонезом. Соль, перец и горчица добавляются для усиления вкуса. В России, Украине и других странах бывшего СССР этот салат стал обязательным блюдом во время празднования Нового года. Его подают практически в каждом доме.

Оригинальная версия салата была придумана в 1860-е годы бельгийским шеф-поваром Люсьеном Оливье. В то время он работал в «Эрмитаже» – одном из самых знаменитых ресторанов Москвы. Салат очень быстро стал фирменным блюдом, которое все хотели попробовать.

Точный рецепт, в частности рецепт заправки, держался в секрете. Сегодня популярный салат «Оливье» лишь отдаленно напоминает оригинальное творение Оливье. Он известен, как версия салата Иванова «Столичный».
